Breakfast Recipes w/Fat-Burning Food Combos

Each of the below breakfast recipes contains at least two "Power Foods" for a metabolism boost FAT BURNING POWER! Eat within 1 hour of arising in a.m. to stoke your metabolism fire.
Greek Yogurt Parfait
1 Container Greek Yogurt (Costco has it)
Add:
1/2 c. dry oats
3/4 c. frozen berries
7 walnuts
Combine & Stir
*You can use vanilla yogurt instead of Greek Yogurt, but Greek Yogurt is on the top of the Fat-Burning Power Foods because it's a perfect ratio of carbs:protein. Normal yogurt is too high in carbs and too low in protein. So just watch labels if you choose to use normal yogurt instead of Greek yogurt. Costco sells a flat of Greek yogurt - flavors: blueberry, strawberry, peach. I just use flavored in the place of vanilla Greek yogurt.


Fat-Burning Oatmeal
1/2 c. quick-cooking oats
2/3 c. vanilla soy milk or nonfat milk
1/2 - 1 tsp. cinnamon
8 walnuts
Combine oats & milk. Cook. Stir in cinnamon & walnuts. Add a little brown sugar to taste :)

Peanut Butter & Banana Muffin
1 1/2 Tbs. Natural Peanut Butter (I like Adam's brand)
1/2 sliced banana
1 Whole Wheat English Muffin

(Make sure the 1st ingredient is not enriched-bleached flour - "Enriched means that the wheat has been stripped of it's nutritional value & fiber, which means your "Insulin Ambulance" is gonna have to come to the rescue - see my earlier post re: the "Insulin Ambulance")

Toast your muffin, spread with peanut butter and top with banana.

Mo' Feta, Mo' Betta Eggs
2 eggs
1/2 Tbs. Fetta Cheese
1/3 c torn baby spinach leaves
dash oregano
Combine 2 eggs. Add Fetta, spinach, oregano. Cook in microwave for about 2 1/2 minutes.

Banana Wrap
Wheat Tortilla (I like the ones with extra fiber)
1 banana
1 1/2 Tbs. Natural Peanut Butter
Spread tortilla with peanut butter, put banana in the middle and wrap it up!

Breakfast Burrito
2 eggs
2 Tbs. fat free cheese
Salsa
Dallop of fat free sour cream (optional)
Wheat Tortilla
Scramble eggs, add salsa and cheese (sour cream). Put in tortilla. Wrap like a burrito.

Chocolate & Peanut Butter Power Smoothie
1 c. nonfat milk
2 Tbs. vanilla Greek Yogurt
3/4 C. nuked Oatmeal
2 tsp. Natural Peanut Butter
2 tsp. Chocolate Protein Powder (or 2 Tbs. *Advocare Chocolate Meal Replacement Shake for 30% more fat-burning power)
1 Tbs. ground flax (optional for extra boost in metabolism)
10 ice cubes
Combine all ingredients and mix in a blender (love my Vitamix!)

Strawberry Peanut Butter Shake
1/2 C. Greek Vanilla Yogurt (or strawberry Greek Yogurt)
1 C. nonfat milk
2 tsp. natural peanut butter
1 c. frozen strawberries (Costco sells the big bags)
2 tsp. vanilla protein powder (or Advocare Vanilla Meal Replacement)
10 ice cubes

PB & J Smoothie
3/4 c. Vanilla Greek Yogurt (or strawberry Greek Yogurt)
3/4 c. milk
2 tsp peanut butter
1 banana
1/2 c. frozen strawberries
2 tsp. vanilla protein powder
10 ice cubes

Homemade Fat-Burning Granola
3 c. oats
1 c. toasted wheat germ
1/4 c. sunflower seeds
1/4 c. wheat bran or oat bran
2 Tbs. sesame seeds
2 Tbs. flaxseeds
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. salt
1/4 c. honey
2Tbs. canola oil
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
Combine first 9 ingredients. In a saucepan, combine honey, oil, and vanilla. Cook on low for 2 minutes. Pour over oat mixture, toss to coat. Spread in a baking pan coated with Pam. Bake at 275 degrees for 30 minutes, stirring twice. Store in an airtight container. Serve with milk as "cereal," or eat as a snack.

Egg-White Scramble
4 egg whites
torn baby spinach
1 oz. fat free cheese
1/2 c. marinara sauce
Combine all ingredients, and cook.

Mexican Egg Scramble
4 egg whites
1/4 c. black beans
1/4 c. frozen or canned corn
1/4 c. salsa
dallop of fat free sour cream (optional)
Combine and cook. Roll it up in a wheat tortilla
